My name is Sara Lubin and I am a mentor, teacher, mother, artist, curator and owner of Mind’s Eye art Studio & Gallery. My mission is one of individual attention and inclusive, community education. I have been teaching in Chicago for 17 years and my main goal as an educator has always been to create a supportive environment where students of all ages can feel inspired and welcome regardless of their particular skill-level or experience. For me, art is not just about simply learning how to draw or paint but is always intrinsically connected to taking chances and trusting oneself to experiment while making "mistakes" along the way.
My whole teaching practice and process as an instructor is to be 100% genuine in my ability to facilitate a safe and creative environment for confidence building. That's what I truly believe art is all about…confidence!
It’s been a goal of mine to open my own small art studio and gallery/event space for over a decade. During the earlier part of the pandemic, the huge, corporate art studio I was co-managing closed abruptly without warning and that was absolutely IT for me. No longer having a gallery/studio space for art-minded individuals of all ages to commune, create, and connect, there was an absence felt and echoed in the community. My devastation turned into determination. I decided to finally pursue my dream of opening my own art studio and gallery space out of an innate responsibility to provide students and communities access to affordable, genuine, quality art education centered around expression, process, and individuality.
Mind's Eye Art Studio & Gallery was born out of a desire to cultivate a studio and gallery space where students can come together and explore art in an inspiring environment without judgement or pressure. My methodology revolves around self-esteem, creativity, initiative, empathy, curiosity, and imagination no matter the project or given medium.
It has been my absolute privilege to witness so many of my students grow and come out of their shells in such fantastic ways over the years because of the difference art has made in their personal growth and ability to connect with their inner creativity. I have been fortunate enough to have had exceptional support and guidance from teachers and mentors at times in my life. That encouragement has made a profound impact in the way that I view my purpose and place in the world. Mind’s Eye Art Studio & Gallery opened in March 2022, now it’s my turn to pay it back and be that positive force of encouragement for others.
Thank you,
Sara Renae Lubin
